The Mission Chamber Orchestra welcomes back its audience and virtuoso violinist Pip Clarke in its season opener. After last year's thrilling performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, Ms. Clarke returns twice this season to continue the Mozart cycle. Join Ms. Clarke and the MCO musicians for a wine reception following the performance!
The Cincinnati Enquirer wrote about the soloist: "In Mozart's Concerto No. 2 in D Major for violin and orchestra, soloist Pip Clarke, brought a much needed dose of vitality and technical precision .... her sweltering tone and pronounced vibrato .... her performance was energetically executed. A standing ovation and vigorous applause from a warmly supportive audience concluded the performance."

Immerse yourself in a musical world inspired by paintings and places. Let Tschaikowsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme transport you to an earlier time in the hands of the youthful and riveting cellist, Ani Aznavoorian.
The San Jose Mercury News wrote about the soloist: "Aznavoorian's cello playing suggested both the lyrical and dramatic possibilities of an ominous and brooding score. I hope this young artist returns again; so, it was apparent, do the orchestra and audience which awarded Aznavoorian's performance with several curtain calls."

The symphonic event of the season celebrates international friendship with the world premiere of a musical tribute to San Jose and her sister cities by internationally recognized composer Craig Bohmler. The beautiful St. Joseph Cathedral Basilica in the heart of downtown San Jose is the perfect setting for the soaring strains of Beethoven, Bohmler, and Mozart.
The Daily Record wrote about the composer: "Bohmler's work is grounded in the best work of Bernstein, Sondheim, Rodgers and Loewe."
This concert is funded by a grant from the City of San Jose, Office of Cultural Affairs and by Applied Materials Excellence in the Arts, a grants program of Arts Council Silicon Valley.
